About Gander

Museums publish hundreds of thousands of public-domain artworks, but they organise them like museums do: “European Paintings, 1600–1800”. Gander takes one great open collection and regroups it by what the art actually looks and feels like — collections like Moody Weather, Quiet Escapes and Epic Sagas.

The grouping is done by classical machine learning over image embeddings; the names are the one part written by a human eye. Every work is free to download and free to use.
